Firefighters charity receives £1,000
MONEY donated by senior firefighters and matched by sponsors has gone to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service launched a staff survey in June to gather feedback from all employees, on areas including employee satisfaction, training and development, communication and wellbeing.
As part of the promotion of the survey, Chief Fire and Rescue Officer Rick Taylor and Assistant Chief Fire Officers, Callum Faint and Richard Hall, pledged to donate £1 between them from their pockets for each survey returned.
A total of 360 forms were returned and the £360 raised was matched by sponsors De-Wipe and RiVR, taking the total up to £1,080.
It took the total raised for the charity by the Leicestershire service in 2019/20 to £67,694.44.
De-Wipe director Jo Taylor said: “We are official partners of The Fire Fighters Charity, and have worked closely with it for many years.
“When Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service approached us asking if we could be sponsor, we were more than happy to be involved.”
Reality in Virtual Reality Limited (RiVR) managing director Bradley Woodward said: “Leicestershire have supported our joint desire to improve fire investigation training and were the first fire service to adopt RiVR Link synchronised virtual reality training.
“We are delighted to support the fantastic work The Fire Fighters Charity carries out.”
The Fire Fighters Charity offers lifelong support for members of the UK fire services.
It has launched an urgent appeal to help it through the Coronavirus pandemic, which hugely impacted its finances.
