602 NEW CASES RECORDED

MORE than 600 new coronavirus cases were added to city and county totals over the weekend.

There were 602 cases in total, 244 in Leicester, with a further 358 cases spread across the county, the majority of which – 150 – were in Charnwood. In Blaby, 47 infections were detected.

More than 30 cases were added to cumulative tolls in Hinckley and Bosworth (36), Oadby and Wigston (35), North West Leicestershire (34) and Harborough (34).

There were 22 new cases recorded in Melton.

The bumper weekend rates come after the lowest increase for a while on Friday.
