‘Wartime explosive device’ discovered in village brook
An explosive device has been discovered in a brook.
Police said officers were called at 5.45pm on Sunday to assist with a report of a suspected Second World War explosive device in Woodhouse Eaves.
A police spokeswoman said: “A report was received that an explosive device was believed to have been found in a brook in
Woodhouse Eaves. Officers were deployed and a 100-metre cordon was put in place in the area the device was found.
“Explosive ordnance disposal operators attended and removed the item to a safe location, where it was detonated and the cordon was removed.”
no one was hurt as a result of the discovery.
