City versus Villa is not my idea of a derby
I AM intrigued by the description of Leicester City versus against Aston Villa as a derby (“Defensive injury fears for derby”, Leicester Mercury, October 16).
My understanding of a derby is a match either between two teams in the same city (Everton and Liverpool, say), or between one team and its nearest neighbour (Newcastle and Sunderland, for example).
There are four teams in the Premier League and EFL geographically closer to Leicester than Aston is. There are six teams in those leagues closer to Aston than Leicester is.
So in what sense can Leicester against Aston Villa be a derby? Villa fans would choke on their Balti pies laughing at that idea!
