City academy graduate Josh Knight has been praised by Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth after making his debut for the Championship side, writes Amie Wilson.

The 23-year-old signed for Wycombe on deadline day, securing a loan move until January to continue to building first-team experience in the Championship.

And The Chairboys threw Knight into action straight away, naming him in their starting line-up for the league game against Millwall at Adams Park.

The home side lost 2-1 but Ainsworth was full of praise for Knight’s performance on his Championship debut.

“I thought Josh Knight was really good, very accomplished and he is making the step up to the Championship,” he said.

“Leicester have got a good player on their hands, and hopefully we’ll be able to embed him in like we have done with other players in the past.”

Knight has spent the last season and half on loan at League One side Peterborough United, playing a total of 34 times for the Posh.

The centre-back has also made one first-team appearance for City, coming on as a late substitute in the 4-1 Carabao Cup win over Sheffield United back in 2018.

He has also been an unused substitute in a number of games, including the third round League Cup defeat against Arsenal at the start of the season.

Knight hopes to be pushing for a place in the City squad when he returns to the King Power Stadium in January.
