Youngs set to win his 100th cap
TIGERS SCRUM-HALF SET TO FACE ITALY IN ROME
FOUR Leicester Tigers players are in contention to play in England’s first international since March.
The Barbarians head to Twickenham on Sunday for an uncapped match the day after the Gallagher Premiership final.
Experienced Tigers half-backs Ben Youngs and George Ford are named among the backs while Tigers props Ellis Genge and Joe Heyes are in the pool of forwards that England head coach Eddie Jones will select from.
Jones, below, said: “This is an important game for us and we’re looking forward to getting back to Twickenham and playing rugby.
“We’ve had two really good camps, going back to basics and how we want to play.
“The Barbarians squad has a rich blend of talent, so this week we’ll be testing ourselves under pressure and looking to take our game to the next level.”
Following the Quilter Cup, England will travel to Rome to face
Italy in the final round of the delayed 2020 Guinness Six Nations on Saturday, October 31.
The match could see Ben Youngs make his 100th appearance for England, who could also win the Six Nations if results elsewhere go their way.
England will then play four matches as part of the Autumn Nations Cup, returning to Twickenham Stadium for Quilter Internationals against Georgia on Saturday, November 14 and Ireland on Saturday, November 21. They will then face Wales away on Saturday, November 28 before a placing match at home to determine their final position in the competition on Sunday, December 6.
