Boy hit by car which then collided with bus

-

A BOY was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car which was then involved in a collision with a bus.

Emergency services were called to Humberstone Road, close to the St George’s Way roundabout, in Leicester, shortly before 4pm on Monday. The road was shut between the roundabout and Rutland Street while police and the ambulance service attended.

It initially appeared the crash was between a bus and a grey Honda hatchback, which sustained extensive damage to its rear. Police later clarified the details of the incident.

A spokesman said: “At 3.50pm we received a report of a collision involving a car and child in Humberstone Road, Leicester.

“It was reported a bus had then collided with the car.

“The child – a boy – was taken to hospital as a precaution. No lifethreatening or life-changing injuries were reported.”

The bus was the number 58A Arriva service between the city centre and Hamilton.

Drivers were warned to avoid the area, with queues forming in Humberstone Road.

The road was cleared and eventually reopened at 5pm.
