Scout post service is cancelled

A CHRISTMAS Post service, delivered by a town’s Scouts, has been cancelled.

At this time of year, planning is usually under way with the 36th Melton Mowbray Scout Group to deliver over 10,000 Christmas cards for and to the residents of Melton.

However, a spokesman said: “The safety of our young people, leaders, helpers and the residents of the town is always our first priority and the complication of delivering our Christmas Post service in the current climate has required significant consideration.

“Having considered the risks, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s service.

“This one-off decision has been taken with the hope that we will be able to resume our Christmas Post service in future years.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Melton for their many years of support.”
