A SCHOOLGIRL heard death threats being shouted as an alleged murder victim was being chased by a knifeman in a city street, a trial heard.

Abdourahmaane Sidibe was allegedly pursuing 21-year-old Mohammed Jibreel after stabbing him in the back in an alleyway off Taylor Road, St Matthew’s, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 21 last year.

Sidibe was with two accomplices, Abdullahi Botan and Ali Mohammed, it was claimed at Leicester Crown Court.

Vanessa Marshall QC, prosecuting, said the young girl’s attention was initially drawn to shouting from about five or six voices which all seemed to be saying the same thing, words to the effect, “Wait until we catch you, if you don’t die after what we’ve done to you today, we’ll make sure you die”.

Miss Marshall said the girl claimed they were threatening to “actually kill this man”.

The girl described seeing the person that was hurt running with blood dripping off his body and being chased by the group out of an alley, known locally as the “Spine”, on to Taylor Road.

The child claimed the injured man was screaming for help and carried on running, but only made it to the traffic lights on Dysart Way, where he collapsed.

Miss Marshall said the young witness claimed that when the group came out of the alleyway, she heard one of them say words like: “Let’s go back this way just in case we get caught.”

The group of five or six people then ran back into the alleyway.

The court heard that despite efforts to save Mr Jibreel, who suffered a single stab wound, he died the next morning at the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham.

Sidibe, 21, of Orson Street, Spinney Hills, Leicester, denies murder and possessing a hunting knife.

Botan, 19, of Rainworth Road, North Evington, in the city, and Ali Mohammed, 20, of Pembroke Street, off Humberstone Road, Leicester, also deny Mr Jibreel’s murder.

A fourth man, Regouane Delecolle, 20, of Withcote Avenue, Rowlatts Hill, denies two counts of assisting an offender, by allegedly helping Mohammed and Sidibe afterwards with transport and clothing, as well as aiding Sidibe to “flee to France”.

Miss Marshall said the schoolgirl witness made a video recorded police statement that will be shown to the jury during the trial.

The prosecutor told the jury the alleged killing was a joint enterprise between the three main defendants.

She said: “Just because we say Sidibe is the one who wielded the knife, make no mistake, it’s the prosecution case that all three of these defendants were participating in this fatal attack.” The court heard that the motive for the alleged stabbing was “unclear”. Miss Marshall alleged the defendants were out looking for Mr Jibreel in the area before the daylight knife attack took place at about 3pm.

The trial continues.
