Arrest over assault on woman, 44

A 50-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after a woman was assaulted in Leicester city centre.

The 44-year-old woman was pushed to the ground near the entrance to the Haymarket shopping centre between 5pm and 5.30pm on Saturday.

She sustained minor injuries. A police spokeswoman said: “There were a number of people in the area at the time and some stopped to help the victim and alerted officers to the incident.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or assisted the victim afterwards.”

The arrested man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
