Driver has a lucky escape as car flips on to its roof

A YOUNG driver had a lucky escape after her car flipped over on to its roof on a country lane.

The 24-year-old woman suffered a minor injury in the accident in Pincet Lane, North Kilworth, near Lutterwort­h, just before 7pm on Thursday.

The fire service said she was able to get out of the upside down VW Beetle herself and was treated by them for a small cut to her leg.

Police closed the road until 8.15pm to allow the car to be recovered and vehicle fluid to be cleaned from the carriagewa­y.

A fire and service spokeswoma­n said: “We received a call at 6.58pm to a report of a car on its roof.

“When we arrived the driver, a 24-year-old woman, had managed to get out of the car herself.

“She was treated for a small cut to her leg.

“Her parents turned up to collect her and take her to hospital for a check-up.

“We made the car safe and cleaned up vehicle fluid from the carriagewa­y.”

A police spokeswoma­n said: “We were called at 7pm to a single vehicle collision on Pincet Lane, North Kilworth.”

Firefighte­rs from Market Harborough and Lutterwort­h attended the incident.
