Evans is available for Sunday

-

JONNY Evans is available to face Wolves with Leicester City’s lengthy defensive injury list slowly shortening.

City have played their past few matches with five defenders unavailable, as well as midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

Now, after a back problem kept him on the sidelines for a trio of games, Evans is fit again.

“He should be available as long as there is no reaction,” said manager Brendan Rodgers.

As for the other sidelined defenders, Ricardo Pereira (knee) and Timothy Castagne (hamstring) are expected back just after the international break, although Daniel Amartey (hamstring) is due to be out for some time.

There is good news for Caglar Soyuncu, though. His groin injury does not require surgery, which brings his estimated return date to next month, having previously been expected to be out until 2021.

“Thankfully he didn’t need the operation,” Rodgers said. “He’s doing some mobility and flexibility work outside but not kicking a ball yet. We’re going to see how that goes after the international break, but we’re hopeful he will be available at some point before Christmas.”

It is a quick turnaround to face Wolves after Thursday’s Europa League win over Sporting Braga, but there are no further issues in the camp ahead of the Midlands derby.

James Maddison was on the receiving of a few heavy tackles and required treatment for a dead leg in the first half, but went on to complete 90 minutes and will be fine to feature at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
