Police dog helps in arrests of teen trio

-

THREE teenagers were arrested after a group of males reportedly threatened people while armed with weapons – and it is thanks to the help of a canine cop.

Police Dog Katia, a Belgian Malinois, below, was deployed in Measham to assist with an area search on Sunday night.

It was reported a group of males armed with weapons was threatening the occupants of a house.

This was after officers received an initial report of a public order incident in High Street.

Shortly after, a second public order incident was reported in Raven Close, in Measham.

The police dog helped to find and arrest the suspects.

In a tweet, Leicestershire Police Special Ops said that the suspects “became compliant when faced with an angry Mali, enabling their safe arrest”.

A force spokesperson said: “Three teenage boys, aged 17, 18, 18, have been arrested following a series of incidents in the Measham area on Sunday.

“Officers initially received a report of a public order incident in the High Street just before 4pm.

“Following that incident, an assault was reported at a property in Siskin Close around 5.20pm, no one reported being injured and the suspects had left the scene before officers arrived. Shortly afterwards, a public order incident was reported in Raven Close.

“Following those incidents officers arrested the teenagers nearby. Two were arrested on suspicion of affray and one was arrested on suspicion of assault.

“All of the incidents are being linked and inquiries are continuing.”

Police are asking anyone who witnessed any of the incidents or has any information to call 101.
