Driver is injured in collision

A MAN was taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the outer ring road in Leicester yesterday.

The driver was injured after the vehicles collided on the A563 Soar Valley Way near to the junction with Lutterwort­h Road shortly after 9am.

The casualty was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by East Midlands Ambulance Service after the incident.

Police closed one lane of the carriagewa­y to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident. There were traffic tailbacks to Fosse Park.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “We received a call from a member of the public at 9.13am to a report of collision on Soar Valley way.

“One driver was taken to hospital by the ambulance service. It is believed his injuries are not serious.

“One lane of the carriagewa­y was closed due to the presence of the vehicles and to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident.”

One fire crew from Southern station was called out to the scene.

A fire service spokeswoma­n said: “We made the two cars safe and cleared the carriagewa­y of debris.”
