Cemetery is for dead, not cutting through
RE: “‘ Bizzare’ ban on using cemetery footpath”, (Mercury, November 9): Could it be pointed out to residents of the Harcourt estate complaining that Wigston cemetery being closed to them causes inconvenience that it is a resting place for the deceased?
It is not a footpath to save time between their estate and Little Hill.
Neither is it a dog walker’s paradise, a cycle path, a football pitch or seating area for drug-taking.
Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is to blame for this in not making it inaccesable except for cemetery users and keeping a check on it, as they do at Narborough cemetery.
I suggest those using it to cut through and save time start out earlier and use the street instead.
