Thomas (Mikkel Boe Folsgaard) and his wife Helle (Neel Ronholt) raise two daughters, Caroline (Rigmor Ranthe) and Emma (Kaya Toft Loholt).
Harmony sours at speed when Helle announces she is divorcing her husband because he intends to transition to become a woman. Thomas changes her name to Agnete and ventures abroad for an operation.
Caroline accepts this radical change to the family dynamic with ease but 11-year-old Emma is terrified about the reaction of her friends and classmates.
