A GANG of four men forced their way into an elderly couple’s home and and snatched the jewellery they were wearing.

They ripped the rings from the fingers of the woman, who is in her 70s, and valuable chains the man, in his 80s, was wearing around his neck. They also took his keyring chain.

The incident happened at about 9.30pm on Tuesday at the property in Malvern Avenue in Shepshed.

The items taken included rings and a 18-carat gold jaguar keyring, which has two diamonds for the jaguar’s eyes, similar to the items pictured on this page.

Yesterday morning, police made an appeal for witnesses and for anyone who might have dashcam footage from the area on Tuesday evening.

Detective Constable Julia Newton, from Loughborough CID, said: “I believe that the men left the address and made their way out on to Leicester Road.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of four men acting in a suspicious or unusual manner in or around Malvern Avenue, Leicester Road or Linley Avenue on Tuesday night.

“Please cast your mind back, can you remember seeing anything that seemed unusual?

“I would also like to speak to any motorists who were in the area with dashcams installed in their vehicles. I’d also like to speak to anyone who has seen or been offered the items pictured for sale. Any information you can provide could help my investigation.”

Contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is free and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
