Consultation opens on village homes proposal
RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on a masterplan for about 100 homes and an area of business units.
Birmingham planning consultancy Define was appointed earlier this year to create an overall scheme and development strategy for a 7.6-hectare site, to the south of Station Road, Market Bosworth.
The complex will include up to 40 per cent affordable homes, along with business units and sports and family play facilities.
The plan will be used to secure a developer to ensure completion of the scheme in the next five years.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, St Peter’s Church and Market Bosworth Parish Council are overseeing the project.
Following an informal consultation on the draft masterplan that took place over the summer, a formal public consultation has now begun.
Matt Bowers, director of environment and planning at the council, said: “We continue to work to bring forward this proposed major development.
“The masterplan will be used to secure a developer to ensure this key development site in the borough secures a high-quality scheme.”
The estate will include a pedestrian link to the neighbouring community and a circular footpath around the development so that people in the wider area can get to the new facilities.
The entrance to the estate will be near the entrance to Kyngs Golf and Country Club, which is set to reopen after plans were approved for a new clubhouse and a holiday complex.
