City Covid hotspots revealed

-

THE hotspots for coronavirus cases across Leicester have been revealed.

Latest analysis has shown the areas which have the highest and lowest coronavirus infection rates.

Public health officials have released a breakdown of the situation with the virus in each of the city’s 37 neighbourhoods.

The figures cover the seven-day period up to New Year’s Day and they show a dozen parts of the city where the incidence rate was higher than 500 cases per 100,000.

Hamilton’s rate was the highest, at 944.9 cases per 100,000 people, after 136 new Covid-19 cases were found in a week. The lowest rate was in Newfoundpool where the city council set up Leicester’s first rapid lateral flow testing walk-in centre.

Nearly 2,800 asymptomatic people have so far been tested with one in 30 found to be positive.
