NOW Twelfth Night has passed, lights, baubles and tinsel will be down and people with a real tree will be looking to get rid of it.

The Mercury has rounded up how and where in the county you can dispose of your festive fir in areas of the county.

CharnWOOd

Real Christmas trees can be disposed of at local tips in the Charnwood borough. The three sites are at Railway Terrace, Loughborough; Hathern Road, Shepshed; Granite Way, Mountsorrel.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, anyone who visits a tip needs to book a slot first, which can be done via the Leicestershire County Council website.

The council will also collect real trees from subscribers to the garden waste service. Customers with a garden waste bin can place the tree at the side of the bin and it will be taken.

Trees should not be over 5ft tall – if they are they will need to be cut in two.

Collection dates will be up to Monday, January 15, 2021.

harBOrOugh

There will be an extra green bin collection week from January 11 until January 18 for current garden waste collection subscribers when real Christmas trees can be recycled.

The trees must be sawn/ cut down, if required, and placed in your green bin with the lid closed.

They can also be taken to a local tip. In Harborough these are Lutterworth Recycling and Household Waste Site, Moorbarns Lane; Market Harborough Recycling and Household Waste Site, Riverside; Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste Site.
