Ex-Pc quit over child images

A POLICE officer quit his post after he appeared in court to admit possession of indecent images of children.

Courtney Ravenscroft, 24, of Oakham, resigned as a special constable with Northamptonshire Police after his case was heard in court last summer, and before internal gross misconduct proceedings could take place.

The force held a hearing in December and found his criminal acts amounted to gross misconduct.

The meeting, which Ravenscroft did not attend, was chaired by Chief Constable Nick Adderley, who ruled that the officer would have been dismissed had he still been in post.

It reported Ravenscroft appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court in August to plead guilty to two charges of making an indecent image of a child.

The charges relate to the period between December 2012 and October 2014.

Ravenscroft, of Primrose Close, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work.

He was told he would be placed on the sex offender register for five years.
