Empty shop given display lift

-

AN empty shop has been decorated with a window display as it awaits a new tenant.

Harborough District Council installed a vinyl image print following the closure of The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, in The Square in Market Harborough.

A spokesman said: “The stylish imagery is fitting for the prominent and classic building of the former clothing store. The display creates an illusion of a fully furbished store, hopefully as a sign of positive things to come for the vacant shop.”

The economic development team at the council said it hopes to continue to refashion vacant shop or retail units in town centres across the district, not only to improve the shopping experience for visitors, but also to attract potential businesses.

District council leader Phil King said: “We want to ensure customers are coming back to all our town centres feeling welcome and safe.

“Initiatives like the window display in Market Harborough town centre really add to the positive feel in the town, with our fantastic range of local, independent shops, restaurants and services.”
