LEICESTER City lead a mini-league with the Premier League’s so-called Big Six – but manager Brendan Rodgers wants his side to get even better results against the elite.

It has been the most stark improvement during Rodgers’ reign.

In his first full season, City earned just nine points from their 12 games against the Premier League’s heavyweights, his team freezing in the face of their megabucks opponents.

But this term, City have already picked up 16 points from their eight matches against the Big Six, and sorted into their own private league, Rodgers’ men would be top. Plus, they have a chance to extend their lead this weekend with championselect Manchester City coming to town.

No longer appearing to be fazed by the big occasions, City have upped their performances against traditional top clubs, beating all six over the course of the campaign.

Manchester United were the latest to fall after Rodgers’ men produced one of their displays of the season in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

Despite that record, Rodgers wants City to get even better, and will hope his side can complete the double over Man City on Saturday to boost their top four chances.

“I still think there’s a way to go,” Rodgers said on City’s record against the Big Six.

“It’s not an easy step to go from where we were but I think as time progresses the players are gaining that belief.

“It’s a huge shift in mindset to be challenging and disrupting the top six. There’s a mentality around that, to be up there consistently.

“You don’t just click your fingers and it happens. It’s something that day on day, week on week, year on year that they’re getting better in.

“If I look at that side of it now to where we were, that makes us happy.

“We have to continue to develop that mindset, Belief is important.”
