M1 junction to close for four weekends

AN M1 junction will close over four weekends in Lutterworth.

The roundabout links the M1 to A4303 into Lutterworth and the A4304 towards Market Harborough.

Due to construction work, the entire roundabout will be shut over four consecutive weekends.

The first closure will be on Friday, April 16 at 8pm and will continue until 6am on Monday, April 19.

The junction will shut during the same hours - from 8pm each Friday until 6am each Monday, until Monday May 17.

Leicestershire County Council said it would set up a 10-mile diversion route going via Gilmorton Road in

Lutterworth, Gilmorton and North Kilworth. The council said in a statement the closure was necessary for waterproofing work on the two bridges that form the roundabout over the motorway.

The council said: “Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a temporary traffic regulation order for public safety for Highways England to undertake bridge deck waterproofing.

“During the closures, any alternative routes available to all traffic will be signed on site.

“Leicestershire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works.”
