LEICESTER City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has spoken of his delight at signing a new three-year deal – and declared that he would like to stay at the club for “many more years”, writes Amie Wilson.

The Nigerian international has been in red-hot form in recent weeks, scoring seven goals in his last four games in all competitions including a hat trick against Sheffield United and a brace against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Before Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Premier League leaders Manchester City, it was confirmed the striker had committed his long-term future to the club.

“I can’t express how I’m feeling,” Iheanacho told LCFC TV .

“I’m excited, I’m happy, I’m overwhelmed! It’s a great moment and I’m happy that Leicester City gave me a new contract.

“It’s been a great time here. It’s not been easy, but there’s a lot of people here that are good people, great people to work with.

“They are nice people and they make me feel comfortable and welcome since I came in.

“It’s been really great being here. It’s like a family. I’m happy being here and hopefully I can stay here many more years.”

And the striker was full of praise for the impact that manager Brendan Rodgers has had both on the club and for him personally.

“He’s been a revelation since he came to the club and I think he’s been good to everyone,” said Iheanacho.

“He’s been a really good manager and a good friend to everybody.

“Personally, for me, I think I owe him a lot and, most importantly, to perform every time I’m on the pitch as well and to be ready to work with him in training and in games.

“I really thank him a lot for everything he’s done for me and everything he’s done for everybody in the squad.

“He’s really a great manager and a great person.”

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne has claimed Manchester City “totally dominated the Foxes in their win at the King Power Stadium.

De Bruyne hit the crossbar for Pep Guardiola’s side before goals from Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus sealed victory.

The Belgium international said: “I thought that was really good today, especially the first half we totally dominated.

“They had the once chance that was offside with Vardy. But basically it was one team playing.

“Second half they did a little bit better.

“But I think if you look at the 90 minutes it was 2-0. I think we deserved even more goals.”

It was revenge for the away side after City beat them 5-2 at the Etihad last September.
