Burst pipe closes road

-

AN emergency road closure has been put in place after a water main burst on a road in Higham on the Hill, near Hinckley.

Leicestershire County Council Highways announced the closure of Wood Lane on Monday.

Delays gaining access to the road are expected and a diversion route will be put in place.

An emergency temporary traffic regulation order has been agreed for up to 21 days.

But the council say work is expected to be completed within three days.

The road closure has been put in place to maintain “public safety” as water utility company Severn Trent Water begin repairing the burst main, says the council.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire County Council Highways said: “The proposed alternative diversion route will be signed on site.

“Access to properties will be maintained. However, a short delay in gaining access may occur whilst the area is made safe.

“Leicestershire County Council apologises for any inconvenience.”
