Major town route set to close roadworks

-

A MAIN road through Hinckley will be closed overnight for around three months for maintenance work.

Dodwells Road, or the A47, which runs from the A5 Dodwells roundabout before becoming Normandy Way, or the Hinckley northern perimeter road, will shut for resurfacing and new road markings and studs over a period of up to 12 weeks from June 1, from 8pm to 6am every night.

The footway and cycleway will also be resurfaced alongside the road, kerbs will be replaced, while minor drainage works will take place and a bridge over the Ashby Canal will be re-waterproofed. Diversions will be put in place.

A 24-hour road closure will also be needed for around two weeks, between Brindley Road and Roston Drive, while the works take place on the canal bridge.

This phase of the project is set to commence on Monday, June 28.

Advance warning signs will confirm the dates for this phase nearer the time.

All works scheduled during this period are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
