Teen arrested over selling drugs to children in park

-

POLICE arrested a teenager on suspicion of supplying cannabis to children in a village park.

The 18-year-old was detained in Gladstone Street, Kibworth, after a resident tipped off the police about suspected drug dealing in parks.

A quantity of cannabis was seized, police have confirmed.

The suspect has been released under investigation.

Officers, some of them in plain clothes, have been patrolling the village after increasing reports of anti-social behaviour in nearby parks. Harborough and Lutterworth police team posted a message on Twitter to reassure residents.

The message read: “We spent the night in the parks and made an arrest in relation to drugs supply to children.

“We received four reports, three of which we were already in the park, anti-social behaviour wasn’t occurring at those times, there was music but it wasn’t late or loud.

“Work is ongoing.”
