-

AN investigation into a collision involving a mobility scooter and a lorry is continuing, with detectives appealing to drivers who might have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The collision happened at the junction of Ashby Road and Regent Street in Loughborough shortly before 10am on Tuesday, and involved a Renault lorry and a mobility scooter, according to a police spokesperson.

The mobility scooter rider – a man in his 30s – was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, where he remains. The police spokesman said he is being treated for “life-changing injuries”.

They added: “No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are continuing.”

Detective Constable Kasie Carter, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who has information regarding this collision but has not yet contacted us.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists who were in the area at the time and who have a dashcam in their vehicle.”

She added: “I am also interested in speaking to anyone who saw either the lorry or the person in the mobility scooter prior to the collision occurring. Any information you have could help.”

The junction was closed for more than seven hours during the rescue and recovery operation, causing widespread disruption and congestion in the town.

Call police on 101.
