A WARM WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Facebook is testing a new feature that attempts to connect its users to the community in which they live.
A separate timeline called Neighborhoods (yes, I know they can’t spell) features info from connections who live in your, well, neighbourhood.
You’ll have a profile that’s different from your main profile, and can introduce yourself with a post after verifying you live where you say you live.
Then you’ll be able to connect with other users who live nearby and see posts about what’s going on where you live and get recommendations about where to go and what to do.
You’ll also be able to connect with nearby communities to see what’s going on there, too.
Available just in Canada at the moment, the feature will roll out to US cities and beyond later this year.
