Solskjaer hits back after 10 team changes

-

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer was not happy about Leicester City’s winning goal against Manchester United, writes Chris Watson.

The Foxes claimed three valuable points against a much-changed United team thanks to a 66th minute goal from central defender Caglar Soyuncu.

The Turkey international powered in a header from a corner, which Solskjaer did not think should have been given.

“They got a goal from a corner that was never a corner. It was a throw-in. So that is very disappointing for us,” the United boss told BT Sport.

“We did not have too much time to prepare and we went into halftime quite pleased but then didn’t quite get out of the traps (in the second half).

“I thought we played well and could have got a point.”

Solskjaer defended his decision to make 10 changes to his starting line-up following Sunday’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa, with a rearranged game against Liverpool coming up tonight.

He also reiterated his criticism of the fixture schedule.

“It can’t be like this again,” he said. “You can’t play Thursday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday - it is impossible.

“So that’s the reason why we had to make these changes because it is unheard of.

“I say it again, if this game was tomorrow, no problem and if we have another game on Saturday.

“If you have two days in between, there is no problem but this is impossible for the players to perform at this level Thursday night, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. It is impossible.”
