Roof fires in mile of each other

-

ONE person was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in the roof of their home in Leicester. THE occupier of the terraced house, in Turner Road, Humberstone, called firefighters to the scene just before 12.30pm on Wednesday. EVERYONE had managed to get out of the house by the time the fire crews arrived.

TWO firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went inside and put out the flames.

The cause is not yet known and the extent of the damage has not yet been assessed.

Fire crews from Birstall and the city’s Eastern and Central stations attended the incident, the spokesperson added.

Earlier in the day, four people fled a burning house after discovering a fire in the loft of a house about a mile away.

Fire crews were alerted at 6.30am by the occupier to the blaze in the attic space of a semidetached home in Uppingham Road, in Humberstone.

Again, all four occupants were outside when the fire service arrived at the scene.
