Man charged over crash into house

A MAN has been charged with drink driving following a collision that left a car wedged in the exterior wall of a building.

On Sunday, May 9, emergency services were called to a vehicle that had become embedded in a building in Belvoir Road, Coalville, shortly after 3am.

Witnesses reported that the white car’s front end was lodged in the corner of the property, causing structural damage. Following the incident, Mitchell Grady, 21, of Bridge Road, Coalville, has since been arrested and has been charged with driving while exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol, say police.

Leicesters­hire Police added: “He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrate­s Court on Wednesday, May 26.”

The car was later removed by fire crews, with the structure, at the junction with Avenue Road, shored up pending further investigat­ion.

The fire service said: “Incident confirmed as car having crashed into building. No injuries.

“Car was embedded into wall of building - building had received structural damage. Local authority building inspector attended.

“The vehicle was removed by the fire service.”
