Campaign to change law over animal snares

-

I AM sure many of your readers will be alarmed to discover that snares are still legal.

Snares are thin wire nooses designed to catch animals – usually foxes or rabbits – until the person who set the snare returns to kill them.

Animals can struggle when caught – resulting in horrific injuries, immense suffering and death.

Snares are also indiscriminate, catching other wild species such as deer and badger. They pose a danger not only to wildlife, but also companion animals.

A quick internet search will bring up horrific stories of cats, foxes, dogs and badgers being caught in snares.

Animal Aid has recently launched a campaign to ban snares, and members of the public can help by using our online template to write to their MP and local councillors asking for action to be taken.
