Only a matter of time until we get first win

-

LEICESTERSHIRE’S County Championship match against Surrey certainly saw a great all-round team performance.

Bad luck got the better of us in terms of the weather in a game I am certain that we would otherwise have won.

With the whole of Saturday and much of Sunday lost to rain, centuries from Evans - his third of the season already – plus Harris and Swindells, as well as 74 from Mike, set up a massive total of 496.

The only thing that puzzles me is how we haven’t managed to win a game yet, despite matching socalled better opposition in all five matches.

I think we now have our best squad in many a year and I’m certain when that first win comes hopefully away to Hampshire - we won’t look back.

Subject to the easing of Covid 19 restrictions, hopefully the next home match against Middlesex at the end of May will see the return of supporters in limited numbers.

With the talent in the squad, I’m excited already, along with all other county supporters, I’m sure. Fingers crossed we are able to attend!
