Van driver about to flick V sign at police

A VAN driver who was caught driving on the M1 while holding his phone told police officers who arrested him that he had been about to “flick the Vs” at their car.

The officers, travelling in an unmarked vehicle to catch people committing motoring offences, spotted the man driving with just one knuckle on his steering wheel while holding his mobile phone.

The officers pulled him over on the M1 northbound close to Castle Donington. He was been reported for not being in proper control of a vehicle while driving.

A member of the force’s Roads Policing Unit took to Twitter to record the encounter.

“Yes .... the car that you said you were just about to flick the Vs at was an unmarked police car filming you holding your mobile phone whilst holding your steering wheel with just one knuckle! Vehicle stopped and driver reported.”
