EVERYONE’S A WINNER: PLAYER RATINGS

-

KASPER SCHMEICHEL: Produced two huge saves late on, showing agility to get down and keep out Chilwell’s back-post header, then astounding reflexes and wrist strength to stop Mount’s drive. The second was a world-class save. 9/10

WESLEY FOFANA: Produced a heroic block to deny Werner in the first half and made timely interceptions and interventions throughout. A mature display from the 20-year-old. 8/10

JONNY EVANS: Back from injury, it looked like he had been targeted, with Chelsea looking to isolate him in races with Werner. He just about kept the German quiet, and won his headers before limping off after half-hour. Seems doubtful he will play tomorrow night. 6/10

CAGLAR SOYUNCU: A swing-and-a-miss early on suggested nerves, but he soon calmed down and made some fine, if agricultural, clearances. Charged forward when he could. 6/10

TIMOTHY CASTAGNE: Delivered an excellent cross for Vardy’s first half chance, then stuck to his task when dropped back into the rearguard. A couple of hairy moments were eventually well dealt with. 7/10

WILFRED NDIDI: Bypassed a little with Chelsea excellent at playing between the lines, but when it came to defending the lead, he chased every player down in the midfield and kept the box safe. 7/10

YOURI TIELEMANS: City’s player of the season, one of the most technically gifted players in their history, comes up with the moment of a lifetime to win the FA Cup. A true thunderbolt to the top corner. Dominated the midfield, too, with several excellent, strong tackles. 9/10

LUKE THOMAS: Defended diligently and played a few good balls down the line for Vardy to chase. Kept Azpilicueta and Co quiet on that side, while using his long throw to good effect. 6/10

AYOZE PEREZ: Didn’t get involved as much as he would have hoped and was not quick enough to get the ball forward, but did get the block on the pass that led to Tielemans’ winner. 5/10

KELECHI IHEANACHO: Not his day. His touch deserted him early on and when it improved, he did not offload quickly enough and found Rudiger closing him quickly. Did his fair share of pressing. 5/10

JAMIE VARDY: Scared the life out of Silva every time he ran by him or chased him down. His movement was very good and, with a few more forward balls from City, he may have got the Wembley goal his career deserves. 7/10

SUBSTITUTES

MARC ALBRIGHTON: One dodgy pass was not a sign of things to come with a solid performance at wing-back, helping out Castagne and causing trouble down the Chelsea left. 6/10

JAMES MADDISON: Came on when City were defending the lead, so didn’t need to show off his attacking abilities, but rather keep the ball in Chelsea’s half as long as possible. Did it decently. 5/10

WES MORGAN: Looked like he may contribute to the Chelsea goal amid the pinball that led to the equaliser being ruled out by VAR, but produced a huge header at the death which would be the perfect way to bow out if this was his final game. 6/10

HAMZA CHOUDHURY: Chased down the Chelsea defenders quickly to try to stop them getting the ball forward and slid in well to halt their progress. 6/10
