Man stabbed in ring road fight
A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed in a fight on Leicester’s inner ring road in the early hours.
The man, in his 20s, suffered stab wounds in a fight with another man in St Matthew’s Way at about 2am on Saturday.
Officers happened across the fight as they patrolled.
They stopped the fight and noticed one man had been stabbed.
He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, and his injuries are not believed to life-threatening or life-changing.
The other man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.
The road was closed between the St George’s roundabout and Burleys flyover for nearly five hours as officers examined the scene.
A fire crew from Eastern station attended.
A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were called by the police at 3.15am to assist at a scene in St Matthew’s Way.
“We dropped off equipment to help with scene preservation as it was raining. We then left the scene in the hands of the police.”
