Firefighters rescue dog from blaze
NEIGHBOURS CALL CREWS TO VILLAGE
FIREFIGHTERS went into a burning house to rescue a dog.
Crews got the dog to safety after being called by neighbours to the property in Muncaster Close, Broughton Astley, at 12.12pm on Friday.
The fire service were dispatched to the scene after calls from a number of neighbours reporting smoke coming from the roof of the semi-detached house.
When they arrived the house was empty apart from the dog inside.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house and put out the blaze, which was on the first floor landing.
The dog was handed to the occupier of the house who turned up at the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, possibly due to an electrical fault. The extent of damage has not been assessed yet.
