Trouble is brewing in dark crime drama

-

A WOMAN is running through the forest in the dead of night, which is never a good sign.

We’re not sure who or what she’s running from, but it sets the scene for this thrilling and tense crime drama.

In a brewery, Anna (Laura Fraser) is going for a supervisor job, encouraged by her colleagues Nancy (Julie Hesmondhalgh), Louie (Eiry Thomas) and Cat (Heledd Gwynn).

She doesn’t get it but joins her friends to drown her sorrows at the office party to celebrate the brewery’s centenary.

Boss Jack (Aneurin Barnard), who has recently taken over from his retired dad Arwel (Eddie Marsan), causes tensions to rise at the party. Let’s just say he’s not the most pleasant of human beings.

And, after an unfortunate chain of events that night, he is found dead in the woods the next morning.

The four employees know what happened, but – since no one ever reports anything to the police in crime dramas – they form a fragile pact of silence.

Aside from the unfortunate death, there are other complications.

Anna is married to a copper, Max (played by Jason Hughes), who is of course put in charge of the investigation into Jack’s death.

Brewery worker Tish (Abbie Hern) is extremely suspicious of her co-workers.

And Louie is actually Jack’s auntie, meaning there is an emotional tie to a family saga that plays out.

A suitably mysterious cliffhanger will motivate you to tune in for episode two tomorrow night.
