A NEW documentary series will follow Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy in his new role as co-owner of Rochester Rhinos in the USA, writes Luke Pawley.

The series, titled Rhino Reboot, will be made by production company Love Productions USA.

The company is behind the awardwinning documentary Last Chance U and have also made a film about former Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos.

Cameras will be granted exclusive access to Rochester Rhino’s coaches, players and staff as they look to build a squad to compete in the 2022 season.

Vardy co-owns the football club with couple David and Wendy Dworkin, who also own the Sacramento Kings in the NBA.

One of Vardy’s first jobs as co-owner will be to appoint a head coach, then the job of scouting for potential players will get under way.

Co-Presidents of Love Productions USA and executive producers of Rhino Reboot, Joe LaBracio and Al Edgington, said: “Jamie Vardy famously went from working on a factory floor to winning the Premier League title with Leicester City when they were a 5,000-1 shot, so as far as underdog stories go, viewers of this series can expect an exciting and entertaining ride.”

They added: “We have a lot of experience capturing the behind-thescenes action, drama and ecstasy that goes into preparing a sports team for a winning season.

“David and Wendy are experienced franchise owners and know a winning opportunity when they spot it, and Jamie is the epitome of why we love sports — an underdog who continues to demonstrate that if you set goals and work hard, you can achieve greatness.”

It was announced last week that Vardy had bought a minority stake in the club. The 34-year-old striker told The Athletic: “It’s really exciting. It’s going to be a lot different to what I’ve been used to for the last 10 years. But I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it.

“I think it kind of resonates with me because of what they’ve achieved in the past — the only lower league club to win the US Open Cup, the only team to have ever done it who’s outside MLS (Major League Soccer).”
