MP to meet minister over hospital
ALBERTO Costa is to meet the new Secretary of State for Health, Sajid Javid, to discuss the future of the “vital” Feilding Palmer Hospital in Lutterworth, which has been threatened with closure in recent years.
Speaking in the House of Commons, the MP for South Leicestershire asked the new Health Secretary to meet with him in order to discuss the future of the hospital which is being used as a vaccination hub.
Mr Costa recently hailed the success of his campaign to lobby local NHS bosses to reopen the town’s hospital following its temporary closure in May last year.
The hospital was reopened as a designated Hospital Vaccination Hub in January.
In responding, the Health Secretary said he “recognised the importance of local hospitals” and welcomed the ‘fantastic job’ being done by NHS staff and volunteers at the hospital in administering vaccinations. Mr Costa said: “The town’s hospital is vital to the health and wellbeing of my constituents.
“I look forward to meeting with the Health Secretary in early course to ensure the hospital returns to full operational capacity as soon as it safe to do so.”
