FORMER Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has married his longtime girlfriend – a year after pleading guilty to assaulting her during a drunken row.

The 40-year-old singer and musician, from Blaby, tied the knot with Vikki Ager at Market Harborough Register Office, on Tuesday.

Following the ceremony, the beaming newlyweds and their family posed for photographs outside the town centre venue, in Adam and Eve Street.

Vikki, clutching a large bouquet, wore a white, sleeveless dress and white veil. The groom, meanwhile, was sporting a blue and grey striped suit jacket and waistcoat, with dark trousers and a black shirt and tie.

It is now just over a year since his departure from Kasabian was announced, on July 7, 2020.

A day later, he appeared before Leicester magistrates, where he pleaded guilty to assaulting Vikki in a domestic argument fueled by booze.

In a full statement released to the MailOnline, the couple announced: “We are pleased to share the news that on Tuesday, July 13, Tom Meighan and Vikki Ager were married at Market Harborourgh Register Office.

“It was an intimate affair, in accordance with the latest Covid-19 guidelines, with the couple becoming husband and wife surrounded by their children, family and a few close friends.

“Tom has worked so hard on himself, his health, family unit and his relationship with Vikki over the past year.

“They are very much in love and looking forward to sharing the rest of their lives together.”

In July last year, the other members of Kasabian revealed they had demanded Tom step down from the band after he admitted to attacking Vikki in a lockdown assault.

The chart-topping group has continued as a three-piece.

Tom himself went on to plead guilty to beating his now wife in their garden on April 9 last year – with a judge ordering him to do 200 hours of community service.

During the trial, the court heard that Vikki had suffered bruising to her knees, left elbow, outer ankle and big toe as well as a reddening around the neck.

Tom had previously attempted to deny he had committed assault, but CCTV footage had captured him striking his then-fiancee and dragging her by the ankles into their garden.

It was reported that Tom changed his plea after seeing the footage and told police he could not watch the footage as it was “horrible”.
