A NEW film gives a former Loughborough schoolboy the chance to display both his acting and musical skills.

Love Without Walls stars Niall McNamee as a would-be rock star who, along with his photographer wife (played by EastEnders star Shana Swash), moves to a seaside town after being priced out of London.

But the couple find themselves homeless until a job offer comes along that is life-changing for them both.

For Niall, a former pupil of Roman Catholic academy De Lisle College, Loughborough, the film is the perfect showcase as it features him performing several of his songs.

The self-taught musician, whose latest album is called 11 Past the Hour, is also compiling an impressive acting CV. His credits include a role in action film The Foreigner, in which he appears alongside Pierce Brosnan and shares a fight scene with martial arts hero Jackie Chan.

Love Without Walls has just wrapped production and is now crowdfunding on film funding website Greenlit to meet the remainder of its budget.

In bid to raise £50,000, the producers are offering various incentives to donors. A donation of £10 will earn you “a big personal thank you from the bottom of our hearts posted on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter”, while £100 gets you an invitation to the cast and crew screening, plus drinks reception.

An associate producer credit on the film will set you back £5,000.

A love story against a background of extreme hardship, the film is topical.

Director Jane Gull said: “More than 70,000 households have been made homeless since the start of the pandemic.

“While this is not a film about Covid-19, it is a film relevant to what we are going through as a society in the aftermath of the pandemic.

“Many people who become homeless do not show up in the official figures. This includes people who become homeless but find a temporary solution by staying with family members or friends, otherwise known as sofa surfing.

“I am delighted to say that we have been working closely with the Macari Foundation, set up in 2016 by former Manchester United Footballer Lou Macari, to help end homelessness in Stoke-on-Trent.”
