A VILLAGE pharmacy’s future has been secured after new owners were found to run the business when the previous boss decided to retire.

Rothley Pharmacy, in Woodgate, had been run by Amar Shah and his family for over 25 years.

It has been sold to pharmacist brothers Anup and Rahul Patel.

Rothley will be the pair’s fourth phar- macy in the region, with others in Leicestershire and one in Warwickshire.

The business dispenses an average of about 5,500 items every month and is within two miles of six GP surgeries.

Carl Steer, director at Christie & Co, who arranged the transaction, said: “Handling the sale for anyone retiring is always a pleasure, but doubly so when dealing with such a lovely family. We bid them a long, happy and healthy retirement.

“The buyers purchased their first pharmacy through Christie & Co and now own four pharmacies and are seeking more.”

Mr Shah said: “I was very pleased with the outcome and have to say it was a mostly stress-free process. “Carl kept in contact from the first day until the last and I always felt he was acting in our best interest at all times.’’ David Ward, senior director at Christie Finance, worked with the Patel brothers on the sale. Mr Ward said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Rahul and Anup again to help them purchase their fourth pharmacy.

We bid them a long, happy and healthy retirement

“The level of service they provide to customers is of the highest standard and I am sure the community of Rothley will benefit greatly from this.”
