FOOD FESTIVAL IS BACK

- By NICK DAWSON nicholas.dawson@reachplc.com

HUNGRY visitors can sample an array of different flavours this weekend as an annual food festival returns.

Feast Hinckley will be in Argents Mead, with stalls including food from the Mediterranean, barbecue and Dutch cuisine, crepes and coffee, ice cream and churros, and treats for fourlegged friends.

The free-to-enter summer event had to be cancelled last year due to coronavirus restrictions.

Bands will be providing music across the weekend and a 120ft inflatable assault course will be available for children (minimum age five) and big kids, at 50p a go, along with free hooping classes.

There will also be face painting and a stilt walker.

John Coward, assistant town centre manager, said: “After the disappointment of having to cancel this event last year, along with so many other events, we are looking forward to welcoming people back.

“We have taken care to put more space between stalls and there will be lots of hand sanitiser on offer and, of course, we urge anyone feeling unwell with Covid symptoms to stay at home to make the event as Covid secure as we possibly can.

“It’s been really challenging this year but we hope this event will bring some much-needed normality back and encourage people to visit and shop in our town. We look forward to seeing everybody.”

Large pagoda marquees will be set up in the Mead, along with extra picnic benches.

The event is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm.

Car parks are expected to be busy so visitors are encouraged to walk or use public transport if possible.

The closest car parks are Church Walk, St Mary’s Road, the leisure centre or Castle.

Parking is free in council car parks on Sundays.

Vendors who will be at the festival include: Wat Wok Thai, Now South African, Coles Food Shack, Picks Organic, Legends Greek, Sona Foods, Stick Beaks, La Pitta, What The Cluck, Pimentos, Urban Spice Box, Events Trike, Swing Grill, Smoke Shack Jacks, Las Paelleras, Eat Dutch, Event Crepes, Bubble Waffles, Baked by Neelu, Ice cream van, Beth Bakes, Flamenca Churros, Taartie, Nyonya Recipe Shop, Chocolate fountain, Debbie Campbell, Awesome Coffee, Little Schnauzer, Hello Prosecco, Horse and Crown, Kipsters Dog Biscuits, Greek Olives, Brocklebys, Jams N Jars and Oscars Pet Food.
