Foxes face the threat of points deduction
LEICESTERSHIRE and their captain Colin Ackermann have been handed suspended sanctions by the Cricket Discipline Commission, writes PA Sport.
The hearing was held on August 2 after the county received six fixed penalties in a 12-month period, with Ackermann captain on all those occasions.
Leicestershire were then charged with a breach of ECB Directive 3.6.21(a), with the club given suspended points deductions dependent on the future conduct of their players.
The decision will result in a penalty of 12 points in the LV=Insurance County Championship or two points in the Vitality Blast or two points in the Royal London Cup if cricketers playing for the county incur one or more fixed penalty breaches in any competition within 12 months from the date of the hearing.
Ackermann was charged with a breach of directive 3.2.22, and will serve a one-match suspension if a Leicestershire player receives a fixed penalty in a match with him as captain within 12 months from the date of the hearing.
Ben Mike and Leicestershire were also given sanctions after Mike deliberately damaged, or intended to damage, the pitch during Leicestershire’s Blast match against Northamptonshire on June 29, with both the county and the player charged with a breach of directive 3.2.
Mike was subsequently suspended from playing in two Royal London One-Day Cup matches and the county have been deducted one point from their Blast total for this year.
Any appeal must be made within 14 days from the date of the decision.
