MAN, 29, IS CHARGED WITH THE MURDER OF MEGAN
ACCUSED IN COURT TODAY AFTER DISCOVERY OF 23-YEAR-OLD’S BODY
A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of Megan Newborough, pictured, whose body was found in the early hours of Sunday.
Ross Macullam was due to appear before the city’s magistrates’ court today.
A police spokesman said: “A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Megan Newborough. Ross Macullam, of Windsor Close in Coalville, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.”
The force said he had been further arrested on suspicion of rape.
Megan’s family said in a statement: “There are no words to describe how much we as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated.
“Megan was the most generous, loving and caring person and we have been robbed of our treasured daughter.
“We are grateful for the support we have received so far but ask that we are allowed to grieve in peace.”
A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in an isolated road.
Ross Macullam, of Windsor Close, Coalville, was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today.
Megan Newborough, from Nuneaton, was reported missing to police on Saturday. Inquiries by Warwickshire Police resulted in a search in Leicestershire.
Ms Newborough’s body was found in Charley Road, near Woodhouse Eaves in Charnwood Forest, in the early hours of Sunday.
On Sunday evening, police appealed for information, specifically regarding a Citroen C3 believed to have been travelling between Coalville and Loughborough.
A police spokesman said: “A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Megan Newborough.
“Ross Macullam, of Windsor Close in Coalville, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today.
“Megan, 23, was initially reported missing to Warwickshire
Police and an investigation by their officers led them to Leicestershire.”
The force said he had been further arrested on suspicion of rape but has since been “released under investigation” on that matter, though he remained in custody.
