Hello Sunshine! Pupils’ new coach
PUPILS at a new school are set to benefit from a Variety Sunshine coach, sponsored by the Premier League.
Foxfields Academy, a specialist in social emotional mental health learning in Blaby, opened in October.
Staff said opportunities to experience enrichment activities outside of the school have been difficult to organise, partly due to the pandemic but also with a lack of transport.
Children’s charity Variety and the Premier League sponsored a minibus, raising money through their annual Variety Golf Day.
Hosted by 1991 Masters champion and former world number one, Ian Woosnam, famous faces from sport, business and entertainment took part, including Dan Walker, Kriss Akabusi, Darren Gough, Len Goodman and a number of former professional footballers.
James Ellis, head teacher of Foxfields, said: “It’s fantastic to have the funding towards a minibus as it will ensure our children can access activities in the community that they would not normally have the opportunity to experience.
“They will also be able to partake in a greater number of sporting events, including fixtures against other schools. A huge thank you to the Premier League and Variety Golf.”
