Western Park rubble is now sprouting weeds

-

SEVERAL weeks ago I wrote a letter to you highlighting the disgraceful appearance of Western Park, which you kindly printed (“Western Park needs even more attention”, Mailbox, June 6).

I am sorry to say nothing has been done. In fact it has got worse as the rubble, bricks and other rubbish are still there and are now sprouting weeds all over.

A news item in the Leicester Mercury last week showed what might be an upgrade of the disused Eco House in the near future, but I am not holding my breath as this has been promised before and has always come to nothing.

Eco House, along with what was once named Western Park Open Air School, has suffered the same neglect as the park area. Why?

Recently, my husband and I passed by Spinney Hill Park and the contrast could not have been more glaringly obvious – we were amazed how immaculate the presentation and facilities were.

Perhaps the elected mayor could take a walk and see the difference for himself, if he is not too busy?
